WEINI - I Love Him Not - Chapter 7 - Part 1 - Surprise! Surprise!

First time reading this story? CLICK HERE FOR PART 1

There Christabella was looking in the mirror. She's well... more like staring... She just couldn't believe it's herself looking back at her... She... she has to admit that she was... beautiful! A tiara sat on her hair which was falling in soft curls on her shoulder. An engagement gift from Aunt Marianna ( her favourite aunt). Her long gown that looked like it's never gonna end... an optical illusion.

A necklace lent by Cousin Kimberly. Her favourite bracelet and a pair of new blue earrings. She looks almost perfect now... of course... after 3 hours and 18 minutes of preparing... going on 19 in another 4 seconds... Her shoes! Okay! WHERE ARE HER SHOES!!!??? Oh God! Shoes!

"Hey! So how's the princess of the day doing?" a familiar voice asked. Christabella turned around to find... "Chrysantha!!! When did you come back?" and ran to embrace her.

"Just got off the plane. My backbone hurts from the long flight in that airjunk! My butt's numb! My brain is having a bad jet lag..." Chrysantha complained.

"Sounds really bad..." Christabella said.

"Yeah, and THEY are cute though..." Chrysantha said, taking out a stack of what seems like hundreds of photos from her bag tied with a piece of fancy purple ribbon.

"OH. MY. GOD! These guys are... awesome... Oh my God! They. Are. Gorgeous!" Christabella was almost speechless.

"Yup! It's fact! See it! Love it! Keep it!" Chrysantha said.

"You're giving this to me?" Christabella asked excitedly. Unbelieving.

"Yup! As your engagement present along with your sweet sixteen present..." Chrysantha said and pulling out a box wrapped in metallic blue wrapper like a Santa Claus.

"It's for your birthday. Erm... you can open it now if you want..." Chrysantha said handing it to her.

Christabella opened it to find an iPhone. "Oh! My! God! Chrysantha! This is amazing! But I can't keep it..." Christabella said.

"Oh! Come on... I have one myself! And it's identical! I want you to keep it..." Chrysantha said.

"Thank you Chrysantha! You are the best!" Christabella said happily.

"Hi Zephyr!" Chrysantha greeted.

"Huh?" Christabella turned around.

"Uh... hi..." Zephyr greeted with a frown.

"Hey Coach!" Chrysantha said.

"I'm not your coach now. Don't spoil the day for me...Santha" Zephyr said coldly.

"Don't call me Santa!" Chrysantha fumed.

"Then don't call me coach!" Zephyr said.

" Fine then! Be that way!" Chrysantha said, crossing her arms.

"Oh! Don't worry... I will!" Andrew fired.

Chrysantha was so furious that you can actually see fire burning in her eyes and steam pouring out of her nose and ears and smoke coming out of her mouth. She hates it when she loses a debate. She wondered how Christabella was gonna last with a guy like him. Poor Christabella.

"Erm... guys? It's my birthday... can you both please not fight for a day at least?" Christabella asked nervously.

"All right, seeing that it's my sista's birthday, you're free for now. But I am not done with you! You'd better watch your back!" Chrysantha warned in a strong and weird accent.

"Whatever!" Zephyr rolled his eyes.

"What's wrong with the accent? Went to France and came back with the wrong lips after all the FRENCH-kissing?" Christabella teased.

"Hey, I still have my first kiss alright?" Chrysantha snapped.

"Oh really? That's a bit suspicious..." Christabella said.

"Christabella..."

"Okay fine! I was just teasing!"

" Yeah! That's right! Go on. I'm invisible and deaf..." Zephyr said.

"Oops! I forgot about you, idi... I mean, Zephyr..." Christabella said, almost calling him an "idiot".

"That's okay..." Zephyr said. "So how was the holiday?" Zephyr asked Chrysantha.

"Like you care!" Chrysantha snapped at him.

"Well, I asked didn't I?" Zephyr asked, confused. You will never understand the female species.

"Oh yeah, Zephyr, a-going-to-be-husband of Christabella and also the school hottest guy, cares about my unimportant vacation!" Chrysantha scoffed.

"Well according to those photos, I think you did have fun..." Zephyr concluded.

"Then why did you ask?" Chrysantha asked sarcastically.

"Just checking. To make sure," Zephyr said.

"Now it's my turn to be invisible and deaf," Christabella complained.

"Sorry...: Chrysantha apologised.

SUMITRA - An Unforgettable Person

Ahem. This was actually an essay for school, but since it got satisfying feedback and because I haven't been writing for a while, it's here, on this blog (:

An unforgettable person -everybody has one. He or she has either played a vital role in our lives or has touched our souls by their actions or the things they have done that affect and influence us and our lives tremendously. For instance, the person I find so hard to forget is my mother, Victoria Montgrave. It all really began when I was nothing more than a wee lass.

"Mother?". Victoria Montgrave deliberately ignores 5 year old Surrey, parks her trolley and begins filling it with packets of instant oatmeal. "Mother?" says Surrey again, almost whispering. She gives out an exasperated sigh, looks down at her daughter and says, "Wot is it?!". Surrey springs into life. "Could I please, please, please have this doll?" she asks, pointing to the latest Barbie. Victoria rolls her eyes and looks away from Surrey. "No," she says flatly. Surrey frowns. "But look, mother," Surrey goes on pleadingly, "she even has her own car and it's pink! When I grow up, I want-" "No, Surrey," Victoria cuts in, "Now put it back where it belongs!" "But mum-" "NO, SURREY! Alright? No!" Victoria shouts, glaring at the poor child and attracting the attention of other shoppers as well.

The funny looks and raised eyebrows, however, fails to bother Surrey as she crosses her arms, on the verge of throwing a tantrum. Surrey feels her face grow hot, the heat then quickly spreading to other parts of her small frame, like wildfire. Tears well up in her blue eyes as she clenches her fists, tightening her grip on the Barbie, as if never wanting to let it go. "Why not?!" she shrieks. Victoria ignores the question but and yells out instead, "Put that thing back where it came from now!" "WHY?!" "BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY!"

The wailing stops and so do the tears. They have everyone's attention now. Surrey wipes her wet, freckled cheeks with the back of her hand, making her face seem sticky and unclean. Slowly, she walks to the shelf, taking tiny steps as dozens of pairs of eyes stare after her. Standing on her tip toes, Surrey places the doll back in its place without a word. Giving it one last look, Surrey turns and walks back to her mother as silent as a mouse.

A few years pass and Surrey has just completed primary school. She is much taller now, her short, curly, strawberry blond hair now luscious locks of golden brown. She is grooving to her favourite rock band on the radio when her elbow accidentally knocks over her mother's favourite coffee cup. There's a loud gasp. Victoria's beloved mug is shattered into pieces and there is coffee everywhere. "Not good," Surrey thinks. She hurries into the toilet and back again with a mop, hoping to clean the mess before she got into any trouble. But before she even tries, Victoria Montgrave pokes her head out from her bedroom and says, "Wot was that noise?"

Her mother only stares at the remains of her only coffee cup. How useful that thing was to her before going to work as a clerk in the mornings. If there was one thing that kept adults sane, it was coffee. And as you might already know, without it and that mug, Victoria was on the fringe of crazy.

"What happened here, Surrey Montgrave?!" Victoria shouts, her face the colour of a tomato. "I...I acciden-" Surrey manages to mumble. She takes a few steps backwards, trips on the mop and falls on her bum, the word 'trepidation' clearly portrayed in those blue eyes. "You wot?! You wot, Surrey?!" Victoria shoots. "It...t'was an accident, I'm really sorry, mum, I really-". Victoria lets out a scream, grabs her unsuspecting child by the head and starts tearing her hair off.

"Mothe-" Surrey chokes, in tears, her body pressed against the cold floor, her hair pulled by an enormous force -Victoria. "Mother, I'm sorry!" she yells, barely breathing. But Victoria doesn't listen. "Mother, please! It hurts!" Surrey pleads, "Mother, I'm sorry!". Victoria stops and Surrey feels relief, happiness and utter relief flooding her system. But then her mother comes back, holding the wet mop and then tries pushing it down her throat.

It is the year 2010. Surrey gets a scholarship to study psychology in Oxford university. "After all those years of watching other girls show off their new toys, of never achieving my dreams, of being afraid, I'm here now. I've earned it." she thinks to herself one day in the library. Suddenly, her cell phone rings. The librarian shoots her a dirty look. She then exits into the hallway to take the call.

"Hello? she says. "Good afternoon, is this Surrey Montgrave, daughter of Victoria Montgrave?" a voice replies. "Why, yes, yes I am" Surrey answers, slightly nervous and literally feels her palms getting sweaty. She tightens her grip on the Nokia. "I'm calling from Blackburn hospital. I'm sorry to tell you that Victoria Montgrave has suffered a major head injury after a freak car accident this morning and has passed on" the voice says. She loses her grip and the Nokia drops on the floor.

***

My mother wanted to become a lawyer. She was about to enter college when she got pregnant -with me. My so-called father ran off with another woman and when her parents found out, they kicked her out. That was when she lost the only thing she ever had -her family. I often wondered how different things could've been for the pair of us if grandfather and grandmother had only supported us, but it's pointless. She had a very hard life, mum. My mother had never taught me things like valuable life lessons or said anything like what your parents would say to you -I just learned from her mistakes.

And unforgettable person -I have one. She played a vital role in my life and touched my soul by her actions and the things she has done that affected and influenced myself and my life tremendously. The person I find so hard to forget and never will forget is Victoria Montgrave, my mother.

WEINI - I Love Him Not - Chapter 6 - Maybe Not That Bad

First time reading this story? CLICK HERE FOR PART 1

Christabella and Andrew walked home quietly. Suddenly, Christabella stopped walking. After walking a few steps only did Zephyr realised that Christabella wasn't beside him. He turned around.

"Why aren't you walking? My mom said she's not driving us home remember?" Zephyr said.

"I... I felt... bad... and stupid" Christabella said, tears forming in her eyes.

Zephyr sighed. He didn't know what to say nor how to respond to that. There was a silence before Zephyr started, "Let's make it a point, you ARE stupid!" silence. Zephyr regretted what he said as soon as the words fell out his lips. He didn't mean it. But what is said is said and can't be swallowed back. Christabella tried to hold back her tears. Zephyr sighed and said, "Just walk, I am melting out here..." he continued walking.

But after a few more steps, he realised Christabella was still not walking with him. He stopped and turn back again, "Are you gonna wal..." his sentence was broken off by the sight he was seeing - Christabella.
Christabella felt her legs gave out beneath her and she buckled over and knelt on the sidewalk. Her whole body felt weak. Every part of her felt like jelly. Not because she was scared. More like she was hurt. Emotionally hurt. How can she live with a guy who doesn't care about her? And she was about to engage to him and might get married and live with him forever?

Where is that secure feeling you feel when you're with the person you love? It felt empty right in her heart now.

It's hard to imagine and it's hard to hold back her tears now. She totally didn't want him to see her break down let alone cry. But then, she felt like... she's... dead right there. She couldn't stand up nor feel anything yet everything was so overwhelming.

Zephyr cleared his throat, "Are you... uh... okay?"

Christabella didn't give any response. There was more silences. Then, Christabella said, "I think so..."

Zephyr said, "Well, you don't look okay to me... what happened? No, wait, what's happening?" he's kind of worried now.

Christabella sniffed and answered, " It's all these thing... engagement? To you? Me to you? I don't like you. Not wait, that was a lie. In fact, I do. But you are the school's star and I am just a what? Nobody? Now, everyone hates me because of this engagement! I never wanted popularity. But now I am having it, in a negative way, I HATE IT!"

Zephyr sighed and knelt down beside her. He looked at her for a few seconds. She looked... pretty actually. In a way, she was. For the first time, Zephyr really looked at her and felt sympathy for her. Birthday ruined. Marriage ruined. Life ruined.

"Look, if you're going to sit here forever, I don't mind. So what if I am popular and you're not? We are all the same. I never cared about that popularity thing. Never. So what if we're both... er... engaged? Life's not over yet! You've got so much to do. Things that you want to do. You've got Chrysantha. I doubt she hates you. " Zephyr convinced her.

"Chrysantha is in Italy... there's no one else to talk to..." Christabella said.

"No one's asking you to fly there to talk to her. Not like she'd be there forever. You've still got me... you can talk to me..." Zephyr offered.

For one moment, Christabella looked doubtfully at him. Then she said, "Thanks."

There was an awkward silence until Zephyr broke the silence, "Err... are you ever gonna stand up? I'm really melting out here..." Zephyr stood up and held his hand out.

Christabella hesitated before taking his hand and he pulled her up. Christabella mumbled a thanks.

Then they walked home in silence. It wasn't long before Christabella realised that Zephyr was still holding her hands. It doesn't matter because she liked it. And somehow she knew Zephyr doesn't hate it. It was a bit awkward, but it felt nice at the same time.

What they didn't know about is what they are both thinking right now. Because it's all about the sweet things about each other..

JOANNA - This L.O.V.E ~ O - O.M.G

First time reading this story? CLICK HERE FOR PART 1

"Oh my gosh! Kevin Gray asked you out?" Amanda screamed into the phone.

"For the thousandth time, YES! Kevin Gray asked me out! Is that fact SO hard to digest?" I rolled my eyes. Sure, Amanda is my bestest friend of all time, going through thick and thin with me, backing me up every single time when I'm in need of assistance, but she's still one of those girls who screams at the mention of Kevin Gray.

"What are you going to wear?" she asked, catching her breath.

"Oh please! Amanda Thomas, the fashion sinner, asking me, Whitney Clinton, the fashion diva, what I'm wearing?" I replied.

"Um, yeah?" she answered, a little taken aback. "So what are you gonna wear?"

"Oh, my-- my-- Oh my goodness! I don't know!" I admitted, slightly humiliated. "'Manda, you know I love you! But a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. I have to go look for the perfect outfit! Sorry, love you but I gotta go!"

"I know. Someday, you'll thank me for being the most awesome friend!" she chirped joyfully.

"Thank you for being the most awesome friend." I said, half-heartedly.

"I know!" she replied, though sensing the half-heartedness in my reply she added, "Love ya too, Whit!"

"Bye!" and we hung up.

"Okay, Whitney Clinton. You're going out with Kevin Gray. You need the most perfect outfit of all time! Something that speaks of casualty because I don't want Kevin to think I'm desperate, but still shows off beauty because I don't want Kevin to think that I don't care." I told myself while looking through my wardrobe.

"You? Kevin Gray? Going out?" the most annoying but most caring elder brother in the whole wide world scoffed.

"Well, as a matter of fact, Brandon, yes. THE Kevin Gray asked me out." I smirked.

"That Kevin Gray has not bad a taste." he sneered.

"Gee, thanks, Brandon. Now, either you help me pick an outfit or you get out of my room, please?" I asked him sternly, then added a courteous 'please'.

"Well, since you asked me so 'politely', I think I'll stay here to find the most perfect outfit of all time. Something that speaks of casualty because I don't Kevin to think I'm desperate, but still shows off beauty because I don't want Kevin to think that I don't care." he replied in a squeaky voice, possibly an attempt to imitate me.

"You know what? Get out!" I pushed him. "Plus, I don't speak like that!"

"Please?" he blinked his eyes three times too much.

"Fine. Stay but shut up." I said sternly, with an air of authority around me.

"Yes, ma'am!" he salluted.

I sighed.

I quickly whispered a prayer because time is really running out for me to find the perfect outfit.

WEINI - I Love Him Not - Chapter 5 - Once Jerk, Always A Jerk

First time reading this story? CLICK HERE FOR PART 1

"You're late for class! You're late for detention! What happened? Christabella? You're one problem. This is Zephyr's first time and your twenty-fourth... no wait, twenty-fifth time in detention! " said Mrs Sasa. I wonder who is so unlucky enough to be her husband. She's just plain annoying... and annoyingly annoying. And, erm... did I mentioned annoying?

"She was picked on. By Catherine," Zephyr explained. Wow! He talks!

"On the way here?" Mrs Sasa asked. She's dumb.

"Yeah... I stopped her anyway..." Zephyr said. Okay, I think he's showing off now.

"Good! How unlucky huh? So many bad things seem to happen on such a special day for both of you... I wonder..." Mrs Sasa said. She sounds like she's provoking me with the red cloth. I am not afraid to admit that sometimes I am the bull either. And bull hates red cloth. That's exactly what she's doing right now. "Now, get to your seats..."

I rolled my eyes. ARGH!

Zephyr and I headed to the back of the class, trying to sit as far as possible from each other.

I swear I saw Mrs Sasa snickered! She opened her mouth to say something, probably to provoke me more, but then close it again. Perhaps she decided against it. Good choice Mrs Sasa.

I looked across the room at Zephyr. He didn't look any happier than I feel. I have a bad feeling that he hates me more for destroying his good reputation. I guess, I have to apologise to him later...

-------------------------------------------------------

After detention, Zephyr was walking back to his class.

"Zephyr! Hey!!! Wait!!!" Christabella shouted after him.

"Now what? You're trying to put me in another detention for going late to class just right after I came out of detention room?" Zephyr asked sarcastically.

Christabella was speechless for a moment before she found her voice and said, "I... I was just... trying to... trying to... say... I..."

"Just leave my life and I alone! Retard!" Zephyr snapped and walked off. He felt guilty right after the words left his lips. He know Christabella was just going to apologise. He felt an urge to turn back to let her complete her apology, but then, he'll look like a loser. If he doesn't, he'd look like a jerk... argh... he's having a dilemma.

But then, he thought, it's better off as a jerk than a loser... So he continued walking without a backward glance. Leaving Christabella on her own with her disappointment in the heart in the empty hallway...

He's a jerk after all, Christabella thought. He is...
