WEINI - Regret

Flowers bloom in the spring
And leaves fall in the autumn.
I see when other's souls meets, they'd sing
I wonder when it'd be our turn...

The glass was crystal clear
But now it's collected dust.
I didn't know what was fear
Until I know we'd never last...

The ice has formed over the lake
Thin or thick, no one knows.
When we're together, we'd never fake
But now we're like opposite poles...

The kettle whistles and steam pours out
It was left unattended now the water begins to overflow.
I'm sorry I was rude when I blocked you out
Now as I sit alone, I feel regrets and I hope you know...

A given present should be received politely
Rudeness is concluded if you declined it.
I know that I was too angry
But I've said my sorry, so why won't you accept it?

Maybe to fly freely is the birds' fate
Maybe a frog can sing one day.
I hope I'm not too late
For I've said all I want to say...

WEINI - Losing You ( A Not-so-short Short Story )

She crossed her arms and pretended to throw a tantrum.

"Aww... come on!" he said.

She shook her head and puffed.

"Come on, man!" he said, pleadingly.

"No," she said sternly.

He continued looking at her, it always works. She's going to give in sooner or later. He counted in his mind, five, four, three, two... one...

She slumped her shoulders, rolled her eyes and sighed, "Urgh! Fine! You win..."

He grinned widely as she shoved the piece of paper into his hands and continued to cross her arms, still looking as if she's having a tantrum. He reads the poem on the piece of paper and was nodding to himself. "Hmm... doesn't sound like your style..." he concluded.

She snatched the paper out of his hands and said, "Why do you care? Not happy? How sad then..."

He shrugged. "Well, I wrote one too!"

"About?"

"Oh, something... you know. The usual..." he said coolly.

"I didn't know there was a 'usual'..." she said, confused.

"Sad... you don't know me enough... Oh look! I'm catching your annoying habit of saying 'sad' all the time now..." he pointed out with a smile.

Somehow, she can never be mad at him for a long time. So she felt herself smile too. She can't even help not texting him for one day. He is her best of all her three best friends after all. Two boys and one girl. Darren, Louise and Melissa.

Darren and Kate always compose poems together. And she likes it.

The last time Kate and Darren ever declared a 'silent war', and the longest one, lasted less than one day. Whenever they argued, either one of them always broke the ice first. She doesn't know why she can't help it. She just knows that, she loved talking to him.

Once, when they had a 'silent war', he'd come over to her place in class and said, "I'd never let you lose another best friend." and walked off. It made her day. She couldn't help but smile.
She sat down on the chair beside him and listened to him, recite his poem.

----------------------------------------------
There was once they had a silent war, again. He ended up saying, "I promised you I'd never let you lose another best friend, didn't I?" he grinned.

She was overjoyed. Frankly speaking, she doesn't even remember that promise...
----------------------------------------------
There was another time when Melissa was talking to Kate about horoscopes. Melissa has told Kate that to make her friendship with Darren a good one, they both need to compromise.

Kate told herself she'd remember. So from now on, she'd tolerate Darren. Since he's hard-headed. And her mum had always taught her that patience is virtue. She's glad she's inherited that from her mum.
----------------------------------------------
"Stop it! It's annoying!" she shouted at him in frustration.

He continued whistling despite knowing that she hates it. She stood up and held her hand in a way that says, 'if you're not stopping this instant, this hi-5 will be a free tattoo from me on your back'. He flinched and started running as she chased him.

Halfway through, she stopped and shrugged, oh well... he's stopped anyway. He turned back and grinned. He knew she wouldn't do much damage anyway. They both knew each other. They just love annoying each other, sometimes. Just for the fun of it.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Hey, you free? from Kate.

Quite. Why? from Darren.

Nah, just wanna chat... from Kate.

About? from Darren.

Stuff... you know... the usual... from Kate.

There's a 'usual'? from Darren.

Don't copy me! from Kate.

I'm not! from Darren.

You are! from Kate.

No! from Darren.

Fine! Whatever! from Kate. Kate rolled her eyes.

You are wierd! from Darren.

It's spelt 'weird'!!! How many times must I correct you on that??? from Kate.

Fine! wEIrd... happy? from Darren. Kate smiled.

Yea, very! from Kate.
And then, there was no reply... again... Kate waited for a reply. She hated waiting. Yet, she waited patiently. She didn't want to be too annoying. He might be busy now. Or he's slept off, again. She felt that sick disappointment growing and she felt like throwing up. Hitting something. Crying... screaming. Didn't he know how she hated waiting? Why is history repeating?

She tried to think back what she's done. She knows she was really careful this time. Trying not to bother him too much. It's been days since she last texted him. It's been some time since he last initiated a conversation. Even if he did, it was to ask for something.

Suddenly, she felt used. She felt being taken granted for. He used to talk to her a lot. Texted her. Talked for hours on the phone. Fighting over who's turn is it to call because of the sky-rocketing phone bills. Now... it's not the same anymore... she missed those days.

After some time, she felt drowsy. She made sure her phone was not on silent. Slowly, she fell asleep... still, no reply...

--------------------------------------------------

She was walking with her third best friend, Louise, around the school, discussing about his problems. Then they decided to go out for lunch together, since it was after school. So she went and find Darren. She found him and asked him if he wanted to join her and Louise. He said, "No. I don't feel like going out."

Rejected and dejected, she turned on her heels and walked off. Her smile still plastered on her lips. Just as always, to show the world, she's fine, she's okay...

She ended up having lunch with Louise in the school's cafeteria. Listening to Louise's stories and problems is interesting in some ways too. She listened out patiently as she carefully advised him on his recent problem, careful not to say something stupid or break down on her own feelings too.

After lunch, Louise suggested they walked around the school and talk. So they did. On the second round, a teacher, who was sitting at the school's cafeteria, stared teasingly (or is it accusingly) at them. "Dating?" she said.

They both gasped. NO! They're best friends! How can they be dating!?!? "No! No! No! No! No! No! No! Nooo!" she shook her head wildly. Louise shook his head too. This is ridiculous!

"Louise, let's go get Darren. Just in case anyone else misunderstands..." Kate said.

"Yeah! Good idea..." Louise agreed.

They went and find Darren.

"Darren, come join us!" Kate said.
Darren followed.

Kate started enthusiastically, "You know what happened?"

"I don't want to know," Darren said curtly.

Kate was taken aback. That was like a tight slap to her. First rejecting her offer to have lunch. Now this? She stopped walking and said, "Fine!" and turned the other way and stormed off. She couldn't believe what kind of person Darren has turned into.

Louise was left standing awkwardly in the middle, having a dilemma on who to follow, "Uh... guys? Come on..." after not getting any response, he followed Kate.

"Kate... cool down..." Louise said, fanning her.

"I can't believe he just..." Kate said, disbelievingly. Holding her both her hands up in an exasperate gesture.

"I know... cool..." Louise said.

She sighed. What has happened to their friendship?

After that, they had some music practice. She sat at one side and read her novel. Not talking to anyone in particular. It's like, she ignored the world. She wasn't really reading actually. She was deep in thoughts. What had she done wrong? Was it something she said? Was it something she's reacted to in a wrong way?

Darren came and sat beside her. She didn't acknowledge him. She rolled eyes. and turned another way.

He went off and a few moments later, he came back with chocolates and left it on her book. She looked at it. She can't accept this. She can't forgive him again, she's forgiven him so easily before this he doesn't even know when he's hurt her. It's too much, this feeling building in her. It's so over-whelming she wanted to cry.

She took the chocolates and shoved it back in his hands and shook her head. He said, "Take it, Kate." she was still holding out the chocolate at him and shaking her head. "Just take it. Sorry, Kate..." he said. She felt tears welling up. She blinked them away. That stupid lemon in her stomach always make her a cry baby. At the same time, she was surprised. Did he just apologised? Did he just spent money to get her chocolates?

But she thought again. Is her forgiveness worth that little? Is she going to forgive him for a packet of chocolates? This was so offending.

She was still holding out the chocolates and he stood up and said, "Take it..." and walked away to practise.

She stared at the packet of offending chocolates on her lap. She glanced at her watch, 8 minutes before my mum comes. She continued reading. And thinking, what's she going to do to the packet of chocolates? If she takes it, she forgives him. But, how can she just let him get his way again?

After about 5 minutes, she stood up. Took the packet of chocolates, kept it in his bag and went home.

At home, she waited for him to ask her why she didn't take that packet of chocolates. But he never did.

So she slept in disappointment again.

---------------------------------------------------
The next day...

Darren? Are we having a silent war? from Kate. She prayed he'd say no...

We're just cooling off... from Darren. We? Cooling off? He's cooling off from???

A packet of chocolates doesn't buy forgiveness. Especially not mine. It only makes me madder... from Kate.

No reply.

Aren't you gonna say anything? from Kate.

Still no reply. She sighs. Another night drenched in disappointment. How can she not have learnt from her past mistakes about setting her hopes to high? Didn't she already know that guys always end up disappointing her anyway?

----------------------------------------------------

In school, they weren't talking.

Kate was avoiding Darren. It pains her to be avoiding him. They have never fought this long before. What's happening to their friendship? What happened to the promise?

Now, she's crumbling... it's like, part of her is missing.

What's going to happen now?

"So how's the weekend?" Chrysantha asked Christabella the first thing in the morning on Monday.

"As usual.." Christabella said, blushing a little at the thought of Zephyr and her snuggling up close in bed.

" That didn't sound convincing enough. I'm not buying it. Now tell me the details. Boring or not! Spit it out, girl!" Chrysantha said, fake threatening.

"Okay, okay! Fine! Stop with that threatening face of yours!" Christabella said with a laugh!

So, Christabella told Chrysantha everything. Suddenly, Chrysantha's eyebrows cocked, she said, "Oh! Look who's here?"

When Christabella looked up, the person she saw was no other than Catherine, the school's Queen Bee a.k.a the Meanest Girl on Planet Earth.

"Oh! Look! It's Mrs Jonanthan de JUNIOR..." Catherine teased meanly, emphasizing on the word 'junior'.

"Go rinse your mouth, Catherine! Your breath stinks of evilness and meanness..." Chrysantha snapped. Then she fake gagging and pulled Christabella and walked off.

"Who says you can go?" Catherine asked angrily.

"Who says we can't?" Chrysantha said through her gritted teeth.

"Well, nobody... but ME!" Catherine said, proudly.

Catherine's IQ is about... zero? No wait, negative 100, that's what.

"Hey! Look! Stop being such a loser! You don't even know how to spell 'sufficient'!" Chrysantha said, suddenly bringing up what happened last week in English class. "Hey! Everyone! Catherine can't spell 'sufficient' in English class last week! She asked me how to!" Chrysantha said loudly.

Embarrassed, Catherine's face flushed deep red. She shot Chrysantha a killing stare and stormed off with her 'pet dogs' trailing behind her.

Christabella mouthed a 'thanks' to Chrysantha. Chrysantha shrugged. The bell rang and they went to class together.

------------------------------------------------

It's lunch, but Christabella and Zephyr was sitting at different ends of the cafeteria.

"Why is he sitting ALLLLLLLLLLL the way over there? I think I need a binoculars..." Chrysantha said exaggeratingly, as she squinted and puts her hands above her brows to show how far Zephyr was from them.

"Do you sit THAT far during dinner? Where is the warmth? I didn't know there was dining table THAT long. I mean, yeah, the Jonathan's are like, super rich. I didn't know you can make customised LOOOOOOONG dining tables. And what for anyway? Unless, you are planning to have about, the whole school's population of kids with him..." Chrysantha said dramatically.

"No...not that far..." Christabella only answered Chrysantha's first question.

"Then why aren't you sitting together???" Chrysantha asked again. There was a silence.

"Oh my God! Don't tell me, you don't even have dinner together???" Chrysantha puts her hand to her mouth.

Christabella frowned, "He's got his own friends, alright."

"Well, what's his is yours now... What's yours is.... still yours, of course!" Chrysantha joked. Then, she added, "You've been talking lesser nowadays..."

"And you've been talking more than usual nowadays..." Christabella replied.

"Oh, is that bad?" Chrysantha asked curiously.

"I didn't say that. You say that yourself... But well, actually, what I was trying to say is that... this... this marriage thing... it doesn't work that way... it's just... Gawd! It changed everything!" Christabella sighed.

"Like... for example?" Chrysantha asked, with her brows cocked and shaking her head.

"We sleep in the same room. We share most of our stuff, which, by the way, I never did before, including with you. We eat dinner at the same table and all... yet, it's like... we're like... nobody, you know? In the school... we're like... strangers!" Christabella explained.

"That's ridiculous!"

"Yeah... I know, right?" Christabella said, as she sighed again.

"Hey losers! So, Mrs Jonathan de Junior, why aren't you sitting with your husband huh?" a mean, familiar voice asked. It was Catherine, trying to provoke them.

"Get off her back you this... this... I can't get any word to describe you, but still... you this... filthy bi*ch!" Chrysantha snapped.

Catherine gasped and her jaws dropped like the 'screw' just got loose suddenly. She turned around and stormed off again. Like a child having a tantrum. Once again, her followers followed obediently. With their identical hair flicking and butts swinging awkwardly like that of Catherine's.

"Urgh! Don't they have a personality? It's so fake! Immitating her, of all people!!! Don't they ever get tired of her?" Chrysantha said frustratingly.

"Obviously, not," Christabella said boredly.

"What do they SEE in THAT girl?" Chrysantha asked.

"Her prettiness?" Christabella offered lamely.

"Her what?!?! I didn't know she was pretty, she's not even ugly! Noo... she's WORSE than that. Much worse... she's... uglier than the ugliest... Wait till she taste betrayal! Hah! In her face, loser!" Chrysantha blabbered on, as she slapped her "L" shaped fingers to her forehead.

But Christabella wasn't paying attention to what Chrysantha had to say. Instead, she was looking at Zephyr and wondering to herself, "Why aren't we sitting together?"

"Hello? You there?" Chrysantha snapped her fingers in front of Christabella's face.

"Umm, yeah! Listening..."

"Urgh! No, you weren't! Never mind!" Chrysantha said angrily and stormed out of the cafeteria.

Christabella sighed as she stood up and took a last look at Zephyr and walked out of the cafeteria too.

WEINI - I Love Him Not - Chapter 12 - The Next Day

First time reading this story? CLICK HERE FOR PART 1

They didn't sleep like the first night. In fact, Zephyr said he's sleeping on the couch. Christabella was a bit disappointed. During lunch, she asked him about yesterday night. He claimed that he was drunk. When she asked about what he said, he looked (maybe it was pretended to be) confused and asked, "Did I say something?"

"Never mind..." Christabella said, trying to change the topic.

"Okay..." Zephyr mumbled.

"Um... can I..." Christabella asked with a gesture saying that she wants to concentrate on her lunch.

"Oh. Right," Zephy said, but continued staring at her.

After a moment of silence, Christabella couldn't stand the fact that a pair of eyes was staring at her eating her food. She said, "What? Don't stare! It's rude! Haven't mommy taught you that?"

"Nothing..." he said, looking away.

After lunch, they spent the rest of the weekend together. Snuggling in their bed watching movies after movies. A movie marathon.

When evening came by, Zephyr's eyes began to feel heavy. He slept off. Christabella turned to him, wanting to ask him a question. But he was sleeping already. Oh gawd... he's sleeping... He looks so... so... Suddenly, she feels the urge to kiss him. She found herself leaning forward to kiss him...

No! I can't do this! This is absurd! I'm a girl! I CANNOT do this! She pulled herself away.

"Mmm..." Zephyr stirred in his sleep, then turned over.

Phew! No more temptation.

"Christabella... I..." he turned back and rested his arms on her. She was taken by surprise. She couldn't sit up. She couldn't move. She didn't want to wake him up either. So she laid there and let her eyes wander around her new room. She laid her eyes on the tv's remote control. She reached out and turned off the tv. After a few minutes, she drifted off too, enveloped in Zephyr's arms. Just like yesterday...

----------------------------------------------------
After a few hours, they woke up for late dinner.

Maybe, after what happened yesterday and today will change the boring dinner routine...

Or maybe not.

Dinner was just as boring as sitting in front of a blank wall, listening and drooling, to teacher's lecture about history, history and history.

As usual, Zephyr was looking at his plate and playing with his food. How old is he? Still playing with his food! Hmph! Christabella thought in disapproval to herself, while Mr and Mrs Jonathan talked about their work.

Oh God! This is sooooo boring I can just sleep on my plate. Even the history book looks more appetising than this!

A few moments of silence later, Christabella finally found the odd courage to speak up, "Err... Zephyr?"

Zephyr looked up. Now, EVERYONE at the table was looking at her.

Oh great, now what???

"Yes?" Zephyr asked.

"Erm..." Christabella started, thinking what she was going to say. Mr and Mrs Jonathan looked on. Zephyr look boringly at her, waiting for her to say something.

Ah ha!

"Here you go! Eat some vege!" Christabella shoved some cabbage into his plate. It sounded really lame the second it left his lips, but she don't care.

"Oh! Thanks! You have some too," Zephyr shoved some weird looking vegetable on to her plate.

Yuck! What's this?

But she managed a smile and a weak 'thanks.'

"Are you okay Bel? You look sick..." Mrs Jonathan asked worriedly.

"Oh nothing. Just feeling a bit drowsy..." Christabella said.

"Oh, you should go get some rest after dinner perhaps?" Mrs Jonathan said.

Then everyone went back to their usual quiet dinner routine.

Zephyr was poking the lump as if it was threatening to jump into his mouth.

Oh well, I guess I'd have to get use to this... sigh...

Christabella went on to finish the weird thing Zephyr shoved into her plate.

SUMITRA - Playful eyes

Hey everyone! This here's my first poem, so go easy on me... (:

Some boys make me laugh,
With their tries and with their bluffs,
Yet no matter what I say,
They never seem to go away.

They please and they flatter,
They say I'm the reason they're such mad hatters,
But I know better,
Besides,
It doesn't really matter to me.

I'm a busy, busy girl,
Who is bound to rule the world,
And so I think it's lame,
How boys play their silly games.

Some boys try,
Some boys lie,
And some even cry,
But I see through those playful eyes.

WEINI - I Love Him Not - Chapter 11 - The Wedding

First time reading this story? CLICK HERE FOR PART 1

Dear Stupid Life,

OH GOSH! It's the Wedding today! No!!! I'm so nervous! I'm going to be finished! I'm going to be someone's wife! My life! Ruined! I can't imagine! Oh no! What's gonna happen tonight? What's he gonna do? Jump on me? Sedate me? Is he even that kinda person? No! I don't think so! Wait! OH my! Must not think about it! Skip skip!!! I'm going crazy! This is so dirty! Noooo!!! I... I've got mixed feelings in my stomach! Sick ones!

Tell me what to do! I'm writing in my wedding gown! Everyone says I look like a princess. Well, I think I look crappy. And that icky flowers on the tiara is making my head really itchy. And the Bouquet is killing my nose! I wish there is no one around so I can just chuck it down the toilet. But then again, it'd be too big to stuff it down the poor toilet...

And the high heels are killing me! Look at it man! Just look at it's murderous height! 9 inches!!??? Whoever thought of this torturous device in the first place??? 9???

Oh! gotta go! Preparing to walk down the Aisle of Doom to the Altar of Darkness and Unknown. To the End of My Freedom. Noo! Hey! I really gotta go! Fill you with details later!

Signed... CHRISTABELLA..

~Wedding music playing~

Christabella is practically on the verge of crying and vomitting now. She's got these feelings in her and she's really confused! She's practically jumping! Her heart is skipping lots of beats now. Oh no! The door's opening! There in front of me appears the way which leads to the end of my carefree days! Now, I've too share my room, my bed, my mirror, my wardrobe, my everything with someone! Sigh...

She walked to the altar, only looking in front of her. She stared blankly at nothing. Not the priest, not Zephyr, not the guests, certainly not the altar! Before she realises, she was already facing Zephyr, who was faking a smile.

"I, Zephyr Jonathan, take you, Christabella Mitchell, for my lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us apart," Zephyr said his vows perfectly as if he says it every day.

Zephyr glanced at his parents, then at Christabella's and then looked back at Christabella who was staring blankly at him.

"Psst? Hello? Your turn!" Zephyr whispered.

Christabella woke from her daze and said, "Oh! Erm..." she cleared her throat and went through her mind for the vow.

"Erm... I, Christabella Mitchell, uh... take you, Zephyr Jonathan, for my... uh... my..."

"Lawful," Zephyr whispered.

"Lawful, wife. I mean, husband, to have and to hold, from this day onwards. Forward, for... for..." Christabella's voice trailed as she frantically searched her mind for the memory of the vow.

"Better, for worse," Zephyr whispered, surprisingly patient.

"For better, for worse. For prettier...um... I'm sorry, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us apart," Christabella finished her vow. Feeling much relieved.

Despite her mistakes, everyone clapped and someone in the back whistled and cheered.

Oh, the flower-throwing thingy. Absent-mindedly, Christabella threw the flowers over he shoulder. Her strong, trained arms threw the bouquet too high and it went really far and ended up in the pond with a splash. Opps! Sigh... never mind. Let it be, sorry people!

SPLISH! SPLASH! SPLOSH! SPLASH!

All the single women ran into the pnd to retrieve the bouquet. Oh my God! They are desperate! And here I am, not wanting to get married!

... oh dear Stupid Life... you should be there! All the women were wet from head to toe! Well, a woman in her late-twenties got the bouquet anyway. I don't even know who she is! All the other women sulked throughout the buffet! It was just hilarious! After meal, which ended around eleven, I was a bit drunk. Just a bit. Zephyr was REALLY drunk! You should've seen his face.

I brought him, no wait! I CARRIED him to our bedroom... he was really heavy! Well, 'it' didn't happen that night. I mean, we didn't do 'it'. But, let's just say, about erm... a bit happened. Well, he pulled me to the bed. Then he slept off.

I took a shower and changed into my night attire. Then when I came out, he was half naked waist up, mind you. He was sleeping already. As you can see, he was breathing softly and deeply. He's quite charming when he sleeps. Good thing he doesn't snore. I can't imagine living with a snoring guy for the rest of my life!

I slipped under the duvet quietly and I was going to sleep and suddenly, he put his left arm on top of me and pulled me close to his chest. He whispered, "Christabella.. I love you... I just don't know how to..." I turned to look at him. His eyes was shut, alright. I think he was talking in his dreams. Suddenly, his eyes opened. He said, "I really do..."

Next thing I know, we were kissing. Not the passionate kind. Just the light one. We kissed for a few minutes and then we stopped. For the night, we just cuddled. His strong and warm arms embraced me. I feel so secure. Like nothing else in the world matters anymore.

Suddenly, I'm not scared of marriage anymore. This feeling I'm feeling is great. I don't wanna stop feeling like this ever! This idea of being safe in this warm and inviting embrace for the rest of my life is so... undescribable.

This morning, when I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was him smiling at me. I smiled back. We kissed again (sounds disgusting? It won't when YOU are married. Trust me!), and cleaned ourselves before going down fro breakfast. Ahhh... it feels like nothing can spoil the weekend... To know the hottest, coolest, most wanted guy in school belongs to me. Loves me. It can never get better.

Anyway, our parents were discussing about a new house for us... I can't imagine living in a house on our own. Weird...

I gotta go! Gonna play basketball with Zephyr!

Signed... CHRISTABELLA...

Christabella was really happy. Who wouldn't be?

"Christabella! Are you okay? Why were you absent? Gawd! I heard you fainted! What happened?" Chrysantha asked anxiously at the other end of the phone.

"Which question do you want me to answer first? I'm fine!" Christabella said laughingly.

"What happened?" Chrysantha asked.

"Oh, just got too cold I guess. You know, the morning winds can kill..." Christabella joked.

"Yea! So what happened between you and him? Everything's fine?" she asked.

"Yea, sure! He was anxious when I fainted. I'm not sure if he was faking it or whatever! I mean, there's like so many people around... maybe..." Christabella said with a hint of uncertainty. But deep in her heart she knows it's...

"He's not faking it," Chrysantha said as a matter-of-factly. Suddenly, she giggled.

"Fine! What's going on in there, Chrys?" Christabella asked suspiciously.

"Oh, it's nothing. Just something nice for you..." Chrysantha said, giggling uncontrollably now. Then the line was cut.

"Chrys? Chrys?" Christabella asked. "Fine! Be that way!" Christabella said to the phone. "She hung up!" she said with a shrug. Then frowned, what's Chrysantha up to?

--------------------------------------------------
"Hey Celina! So what's up yesterday, last night? You suddenly went off just like that!" Christabella asked curiosly.

"Gotta go! Catch up with you later! Meet me in the cafeteria at lunch! Usual table!" Chrysantha said hurriedly.

Before Christabella can open her mouth to say something, Christabella was around the corner of the end of the corridor already.

Great! Now my best friend is ditching me! Oh no! Not Catherine! Nooooo!!!

"Hey! So I heard you fainted yesterday... are you okay?" Catherine asked in a fake, sickly sweet smile.

"You talking to me?" Christabella asked carefully. Something is fishy!

"Yeah... of course! Who else fainted?" Catherine said sarcastically.

"Oh... I'm fine..." Christabella said. Stop being sarcastic and get the hell outta my way, you this sickening bi*ch!

"Great! See you 'round!" Catherine waved and went away.

Phew! That was fine! But... really... what's going on?

For the whole day, everyone asked if Christabella was okay. It feels good to be noticed, yet so awkward to be popular. And being asked the question over and over again... it's just so weird. She might as well just announce it over that PA system that she's fine.

---------------------------------------------
"Christabella! Youwon'tbelievethis! Hesayshelovesyou! HedidNOTpretendtobeworriedtheotherday! HeLOVESyoualot! Wohoo!" Chrysantha said excitedly over the phone.

"Huh? What are you babbling about? Can you like, separate your words? I don't get it!" Christabella said, confused.

"He-loves-you!" Chrysantha said, giggling.

"Who?"

"Him!"

"Him, who?"

"Zephyr! Duh!" Chrysantha said in a bored way.

"Oh! How'd YOU know!?" Christabella asked curiously.

"I asked him, of course!" Chysantha said proudly. "Actually, I threatened that if he didn't tell the truth, he'd lose his head."

"Oh, how'd you ask him?"

"I called him!" Chrysantha said.

"How'd YOU get his number?" Christabella asked.

"It was on the invitation card. DUH!" Chrysantha said.

"Oh! Yeah! The card! Ha-ha. Card... I totally forgot!" Christabella said.

"Oh! Haha! All the girls in the school is calling him! It took me 17 times to get through!" Chrysantha said hysterically. "Just in case, you don't know..."

"Ahem! Except me! I'm not calling him," Christabella reminded.

"Well... yea..." Chrysantha agreed. There was a silence before Chrysantha added, "How come?"

"Because I see that annoying face every single day at dinner," Christabella snapped.

"Oh! Really?" Chrysantha teased.

"Duh! I'm dragged out of my bed every morning just to have this stupid 'sweet heart breakfast' with him too. It's lame!" Christabella complained.

"Oh! That's too bad! All the girls would kill to get this chance... except me, of course!" Chrysantha said. Then she added, "And you," after a second thought.

"CHRISTABELLA! COME DOWN! WE'RE GOING TO THE JONATHAN'S FOR DINNER!" Mrs Michell shouted from downstairs.

Christabella rolld her eyes and shouted back, "Coming, mom!".

"See, get what I mean?" Christabella groaned into the phone.

"Ooo... dinner with Zephyr!" Chrysantha said with a giggle.

"Jealous much?" Christabella teased.

"CHRISTABELLA????!!!" Mrs Mitchell called again.

"COMING!" Christabella shouted back.

"Urgh! Bye!" Christabella told Chrysantha and hung up before Chrysantha had a chance to say anything more.

He loves me! He loves me not! He loves me! He loves me not!

Christabella was mumbling to herself during dinner. Zephyr never looked up from his plate. Neither did he speak during dinner. She wondered as she looked at him. Does he really love me? Like what Chrysantha has told me? He's quite... good looking...

She continued to poke her food on her plate.

Dinner with him is such a bore! Why would the girls want to have dinner with him? Nothing ever happens! Sigh.....

After that night, like any other couples, they declared the Silent War for the first time in their short period of marriage. Oh wait, they aren't married yet! But they might as well had. Oh well, unfortunately, there's nothing much both their parents can do except try to not provoke either one of them.

Christabella slept over at the Jonathan's over the weekend because she practically got drunk in the post-party's party and Mrs Jonathan insisted that she stayed over. UNDERAGE drunk. At breakfast, everyone was quiet. The silence was deafening. Zephyr acted like he didn't know Christabella was cursing all the way under her breath (which is actually audible to everyone at the table. Everyone just pretended they didn't hear her). His mother, who was constantly glancing at both of them and his father who was glaring at him in a way that says you-say-something!

In the end, Mrs Jonathan broke the silence, "What a beautiful day to walk to school huh?"

Zephyr rolled his eyes. Christabella shifted uncomfortably in her seat. Mr Jonathan cleared his throat and went back to his newspaper.

After breakfast, Mrs Jonathan insisted that they walk to school themselves giving the excuse that she's busy with the wedding preparation. Unwillingly, they walked out together (but it was obvious that they were keeping the distance of at least 100 m between them... nah! Just exaggerating).

-----------------------------------------------

The cold morning wind made Christabella regret wearing such thin outfit. She shivered and she turned pale. Zephyr noticed her shivering in her thin clothes but didn't attempt to keep her warm. He'd be a total loser to break the War they've declared two days ago. Might as well just keep it going than to surrender.

Christabella turned blue upon reaching the school's gate she can barely feel her fingers and toes. She was numb all over and that jerk Zephyr was doing nothing at all! When they were heading for the stairs, Christabella felt her legs gave way and she passed out on the floor.

The next thing she knows was someone calling her name. It sounded distant and familiar but her eyes just wouldn't open and her brain can't seems to work at all.

She remembered that voice asking if she was okay and a pair of strong arms shaking her until she feels like she's gonna be sick. She tried her best to move her eyes or fingers to show that she was but the muscles seem to disobey her brain's instructions.

The shake got more violent that she can't help but forced open her heavy eyelids. The sudden burst of sunlight made it hard to focus on anything. There were shadows and blurred image and outlines of humans casted everywhere around her.

She blinked a several times until the images were focused. She found that standing in front of her, was Zephyr.

"Are you okay? You just fell like that? I thought you died! You scared the guts out of me!" Zephyr said, in a really worried tone.

Christabella smiled a bit. Hah! I won! You spoke! You lost! HAHAHA!

"I think I'm fine. You were worried? Really?" Christabella asked, not quite believing what he said. A bit surprised and unsure about what she'd heard.

"Yeah..." Zephyr said, not believing that he had broke the silence himself!

Christabella smiled more and said, "Thanks... for being worried."

Zehpyr suddenly feel something lift of his shoulders. Naturally, he smiled too.
